The resort lies 18 km to the north of Varna, is in the territory of the national park Golden Sands. The park is 277m above sea level and therefore its flora is very different from the flora of the other national parks in Bulgaria. Special attention should be paid to the archaeological and historical landmark of the park – Aladja Monastery, where one can see murals from 13th- 14th century.
The soft golden fine sand, generously strewed along the coast, gave the resort its name. The width of the beach reaches 100m at places. The sun and sea baths are possible from May till October, the average daily summer temperature is 27oC / air/ and 24oC /water/, and summer is long and warm.
Due to its clean beaches and sea, in 1996 Golden Sands won the prestigious international prize “Blue Flag”. The locality is famous for its curative springs, and many hotels in the resort have spa centers, using these waters.
Golden Sands is the ideal place for people of all ages, everyone can find what he/she is looking for. There is a wide choice of 2-5 star hotels, for every taste and means. Children are also provided for: there are various playgrounds for them, water slides, water wheels, children pools and other entertainment.
The fans of active holiday will discover the wonderful conditions for wind surfing, water skiing, parachuting and other open-air or in-door sports. The resort has many pools, tennis courts, sports centers, ecological transport – mini trains, bicycle – rickshas. There are paths for horse-riding and cycling tracks, grounds for different games – bowls, volleyball, basketball, table-tennis, and for the lovers of extreme experience– jeep safari and a casino.
